How to work with WordPress.org menus

One of the most-asked questions about WordPress…how to use the menus! ๐Ÿ™‚ It’s actually very easy once you know where to go & what to click.

Quick overview:

  • Go to Appearance–>Menus
  • You can work with a menu you already have, or create a new one
  • Select from the lists of Pages & Categories to add them to your menu, or use Custom Links to add links (and be sure to tick “Open in new tab/window” if you’re linking to outside sites)
  • Click & drag items up & down to rearrange
  • Click & drag items to the right to nest them, i.e. create drop-down menus
  • Assign menus to the spot in your theme where you want them to appear, or don’t assign them & instead use them in a widget
  • You can change the word/words that show in the menu via chanting “Navigational label”
  • Remove items from the menu with the “Remove” link

I hope the video helps you “navigate” your menus better! (Bad joke, I know… ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

Cheers,
Sara
